august books to read now

Something about interesting characters and great stories...

I feel like I've been a bit of a book rut where I'm reading a lot of books, but I'm not SUPER excited about any of them.

You know when that happens, right?

So, to get out of it, and because the NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES IS COMING OUT SOON, I decided to re-read ONCE UPON A BROKEN HEART by Stephanie Garber. This was probably one of my top three books of last year, and the reread was maybe even better?! Being catapulted back in the Magnificent North with Evangeline (aka Little Fox) and Jacks and curses and SURPRISE vampires was the most magnificent adventure.

So magnificent I can hardly wait for THE BALLAD OF NEVER AFTER and my preordered copy to arrive so I can jump back into this world because the world is SO GOOD. I loved the CARAVAL series, but I think this is maybe even better?

Anyway, while I was re-reading this, I started my book club book for August, too, and discovered it was also SO GOOD. THE GUEST LIST by Lucy Foley is compared to Agatha Christie mysteries...and that was actually spot on. I loved all of the twists and unexpected connections. It was such a surprising journey AND ending. Highly recommend.
