'Tis the season to have tea parties and read!
While starting writing for The Eternal Night Soiree (can I make TENS happen?!), I was also finishing Maureen Johnson's Truly Devious series. Holy holidays, it was good. Definitely spent many a night (that I'll never regret!) staying up too late because it was too good to put down. Stevie Bell is a hilarious and badass detective, and her friendship with Nate and Janelle was so wonderful. As for all the grand mysteries?! Well, of course they all unraveled in such a fun way. Stevie talks about Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, which I read last year, and loved, and this book totally reminds me of it in the best possible way.
Now that I'm done with those, I've started Dark Rise by C.S. Pacat. I (accidentally) saw a few reviews that said the first hundred pages were a slow burn, but I totally don't feel that way. Only 18% in, I'm so immersed in this world and storyline, and in love with Will and Violet. For anyone who loves a battle between Light and Dark, this is a must read (preferably by string lights).
Then, onto finishing The Thanatos Syndrome by Walker Percy (so I can discuss with my grandma) and The Bear and the Nightingale (round two because I can't stay away).
What books did you love this year?! Let me know. Please. So I have something to distract myself with besides dog photos while trying to crank out my daily 5 pages for The Eternal Night Soiree.
