don't rush the ending
So close to the end of the editing process for The Protectress, and I've said it so many times. That this draft is DONE. That it's ready.
But, I really really think this is it. After basically re-writing the entire book. Surely it's got to be done?! If I could just get through the ending...
Anyway, just a few pages away from concluding and I can feel that urge in me to just rush through it. To just get the ending out there, which is totally fine in a first draft.
At this point, though, the ending deserves more than being rushed. So, I'm trying to take my time and think it through. To get us in Luna's headspace as things fall apart around her.
Giving myself space to really think it through, and write, then erase, then re-write is working. Even if it's not fast enough.
So, if you're not working on a deadline, make sure you give yourself plenty of space and time to nail the ending,
With that, I'm only a few pages out from mine, and I'm really excited about how the book has come full circle, back to the ominous black lanterns for the missing students at the beginning
