jumping into writing a new book

With 2021 coming to an end, I can hardly believe that I'm even thinking (longingly) about writing another book that has no relation to the other three books that are part of the Protectress Series.

Last year, I just wanted so badly to finish my first draft of Luna's story by the end of the year...which I did! Yay me!

After spending so much of 2021 drafting and re-writing, I'm truly torn between wanting to jump right in to book two while Luna's getting feedback OR trying to sprint through a quick first draft of the The Eternal Night Soiree.

I honestly don't know what the right choice is here, so let's talk it through, shall we?

I made a fairly detailed outline for the entire Protectress Series, and an in-depth one for Book Two. So, in theory, I know where all of this is going, and now I just have to write it. Piece of cake, yum. Except, that I'm nervous about what kind of feedback Book One is going to get, if I'll have so much that needs changing that it's not even worth beginning Book Two until it's fixed. AHHHH!

Which leads me to this other story about the town cursed to live in an Eternal Night Soiree, a dark and charming warlock who's just looking for his lost love (and causing mayhem along the way), and sisters Clove and Fig who are tied to a traveling salon by said warlock. It's totally different from Luna and out of the short story realm of Beatrix Bobbit, but I can't get it out of my head. So maybe the best way to get it out of my head is just to try to write a first draft for it in less than three months and THEN go back to Luna.

As you can tell, I haven't committed to beginning to write book two or this new book, YET. So, if you, dear lovely reader just want to tell me what to do, I'll listen. Maybe. If it's aligned with what I wanna do, too.

I have until next week to decide. When the Protectress Book One will be out of my hands for a bit. Which means many internal pro-con lists in my head 'till then. And handstands next to absurd frog statues.
