luna's october reading thoughts
Boo! This month has flown by on a zippy broomstick. I got a little off-track for exactly what I wanted to read in October and have somehow found myself in the midst of four series that obviously must be read at once.
Also, I stayed up late last night finishing Stephanie Garber's new Once Upon a Broken Heart and regret nothing because I finished it in two days and it was two days of pure magic. I loved Jacks in Finale so getting a whole new series with him is a fairytale dream. Evangeline fox is a delightful heroine and has excellent chemistry with Jacks. She fits right into this world of prophecy, talking arches, old magic and fairytales. I always thought if I could live inside any fantasy book world, Caraval would be it. But, now I'm considering a switch to the Magnificent North. Stephanie Garber's imagination is evident in every detail. Cannot wait to see where this series goes!
In Vermont, I finished the second book in Katherine Arden's The Winternight Trilogy, The Girl in the Tower. Wowwowowowowowow. How Lorelai Gilmore feels about snow is how reading this book makes me feel.
I couldn't have imagined a book about medieval Russia and Russian folklore would be so completely enchanting but it is. Vasya is courageous and adventurous and I love her spirit. Her relationship with Solovey is one of the best parts of this book too.
Up next: Namesake by Adrienne Young, The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes and The Gilded Cage by Lynette Noni. Apparently, can't quit adding series to the list. Is there one I *should* add?! Please let me know.
In writing news, about 100 pages left in my re-write goals for the Protectress. Hoping to knock those out by Saturday, and then read the new/old book again to see how all the new scenes and writing flows and changes the story overall. With a completely new 1/3 of the book, I think it's gonna feel super different. Hopefully in a really exciting and not oh no what have I done way.
A new Halloween-themed Beatrix Bobbit story is in the works for next week, too.
