monday writing motivation

Head still in the weekend clouds. Dreaming of weekend things like apple fritters, long workouts and couch writing sessions with extra cups of coffee. Finding that ideal flow when implementing new ideas to the story feels so good and the sentences pour out like a third cup of coffee. That weekend writing world is gloriously good.

And then (cue the ominous music), Monday comes. It's a whole new world to battle when your job is back to the forefront, but your mind is still in Star's End with Luna trying to harness her sparks against some Shifters.

Writing on the weekend (for me), definitely feels so much more fun and free flowing than it can at times during the week. Especially on Mondays. So, where do you find the motivation to keep going with your writing on a Monday, when there's so much else to do that you kinda just wanna maybe skip it?

Well, if I look at all the time I'm consuming vs creating, there's all this space where I could be creating but am instead passively consuming by scrolling Insta or Etsy. So, even if it's just a quick snack break where you'd usually mindlessly scroll vintage boots on Etsy, notice what you're doing. Take your finger off the Etsy app on your phone (I know, it's like, right there AHHH). Instead, open your story. Whether that story is 350 pages or a blank Google Doc with a few ideas typed out, spend the time you would be scrolling, writing.

A few minutes of writing is better than no minutes of writing, and that right there is the Monday motivation. Creating something new in the form of sentences, paragraphs or pages, will feel good. Which is all you can ask for on a Monday: a few minutes that capture that magic free-flowing writing feeling from the weekend. Your story will be better off for those spare minutes you give it, and you'll be better off too.
