mood boards for world building
I am not a Second Draft person. I want to be! Because it IS fun to get to know your story and see your characters better. To figure out all the little details about their world and their hopes and dreams. But it's slower, and doesn't have that First Draft Magic feel where you're like:
IF IT SUCKS I WILL FIX IT IN MY SECOND DRAFT!
So, that's probably why my second draft feels less fun. I pushed all the stuff I didn't want to do till now. And, now that I've read that first draft, made comments in my doc and a revision outline, I've been going through the painstaking process of enacting those edits.
I started a Pinterest board for Night Soiree before I even started writing it, but I've been going back to it lately to procrastinate / ALSO help me visualize more of the world. It's too fun, and can waste too much time, but oh is it a nice break from looking at the same fifty pages over and over again.
Here are two little snippets from my Night Soiree board! Do you use mood boards?! Do they help?
