new book thrill

It's official. Luna is off with a beta reader to get Publisher Ready (hopefully!!!). TBH, it's exciting but sounds a little stressful for her. So, I'm trying to get out of the Protectress world for a bit until I can go through changes.

Instead, I started writing my new book The Eternal Night Soiree which I was so excited to start. And, now I think the stages of writing a new book waver between:

  • Cannot wait ONE MORE SECOND before starting to write this book, AHHH!!!

  • Then, a couple pages in...

Well, I'm 10 pages in now, having powered through the worst of it. Already this is SO different from writing Luna where I was 100000% a pantser. I had no outline or plan, and the first draft was disastrous.

This time, I have an outline (though it could probably be more detailed?! working on it in parts as I write, too), and a plan for this two book series. I'm sure there are benefits to both methods, but for right now, I'm loving having the structure of knowing where I want to go, but not being TOO set in the plan as the story unfolds.

One of the few methods I'm keeping from the first book writing effort, is not allowing myself to go back and read what I've written till after the first draft. I'm hoping I'll get better about this as I keep writing, but, for now, I need to keep moving forward!

Are you an outliner? Pantser? Somewhere in between? I'd love to hear what works for you and why!
