october goals or ghouls

Goals or ghouls, who's to say. But October is here. Month number 10. And, that is terrifying. I remember finishing my first draft of Luna earlier this year, the absolute thrill of being done and getting to read the magic from start to finish.

But, reading that first draft was Really Scary. This was what I'd been working on?! Was it some kind of elaborate trick?!

So, it feels appropriate that going into October, Luna is in a very different place. Literally, I've added more places we get to explore. Like a visit to the Vis Group and some major expansions of the Silvis (low gravity Training Ground, what?!). Then, there's the whole new beginning that starts right in the midst of three disappearances in...October. That gave me chills.

Here are some of my writing and reading goals for this month:

  1. Get through the roughly 60 pages of Protectress rewrites. Mostly deleting and starting from scratch to make Luna's training scenes more intense and exciting. And, adding new scenes with Riley. Then, figuring out how to kinda answer some of the questions about the central mysteries without completely answering them! Boo, I mean WOO.

  2. Write two new Beatrix Bobbit stories. After the foray into Mr. Bobbit's childhood, I'm ready to send Beatrix to her Witch Camp Reunion with all kinds of confusion, and watch the Bobbit family celebrate Halloween.

  3. I just finished The Inheritance Games which was delightfully fast paced and twisty. Also, Fable which I read over two train rides and didn't want to stop. Excited for the sequels for both of these soon. And, in honor of spooky month, I'll be delving into City of Ghosts and the Near Witch by V.E. Schwab. Probably whilst Hocus Pocus plays on loop.
