writing november

The beginning of November feels like a pause before an exhale. A brief moment where you're turning a little more inward, layering up, spending more time inside. Three days into the new month, and I can't seem to take my hands off the keys or my eyes off the screen because these latest changes to this 1.5 year novel are coming to an end.

I'm simultaneously racing to get there and spending more time than before editing the final scenes, skipping around to other key scenes for more re-working, too. And so much second guessing and overthinking. HAS THIS ALL BEEN A WASTE?!

Breathe. No. This is what writing is. You outline and write and edit and draft and live in this world of your book and hope that someone else (ANYONE) will get it too.

I'm also tearing through books rapidly, genuinely getting lost in stellar storytelling.

Vicious by V.E. Schwab sucked me in instantly to the motley crew, underbelly of Merit and plotting villain protagonists. Never read anything like it, and highly recommend.

Namesake by Adrienne Young still made me consider a life at sea because the water and the storms and gems all sounded so wondrous. Super satisfying conclusion to the series.

I don't know if it's something in the air or the fact that 2021 is coming to a close (HOW though?!) and with it a whole year of working on Luna's world and the Protectress story. Rolling with it either way before the hectic holidays.

Using this pause to write write write and see where it goes! Hope you find your hands on the keyboard and inspiration flowing for whatever novel or project you're working on.
